Wedding Photographers Shoot Their Own Wedding. Photogenick Photography.

So, it was December the 4th 2015. Our wedding day.

We had always decided from the start that we were going to do our own photography. Plus, being wedding photographers people had already said “so who’s doing your photography then”

We’d told enough people that it was going to be ourselves that was going to do it so there was no backing out now. The reason for shooting our own wedding photography wasn’t because we thought nobody else could get the images we wanted or because we didn’t want to pay for a photographer. Your wedding day is one of your most special moments in life where a bond between two is sealed. We always say to our bride and grooms, what do you want to look back on in 50 years time. What do you want to show your grandchildren. Reliving the feeling and atmosphere of your day is a truly exceptionional skill which a wedding photographer must possess.

We wanted to capture each other and the love we felt towards each other in a personal unscripted way. Shooting how we felt at that moment.

Nic shot her own bridal preps while I shot my own morning preps. Capturing the details of the moment as well as our two amazing boys Olen & William.

Our ceremony included our close immediate family followed by our own personal shots in the gardens of Clifton Park. The blustery and cold conditions of a British December did nothing to avert us from what we had planned. Using a tripod and timer we were able to shoot freely and create those lasting memories we have done for so many others. Now it was our time.

We will cherish these shots for as long as we shall live, look back in fifty years and re-live it all again.

Emma & Tom’s Ringwood Hall Wedding Photography, Chesterfield.

Emma & Tom’s Autumn Ringwood Hall Wedding was sure to be a great day from the moment they booked with us.

In fact there is a little story to tell about how it happened. I’m going to paste what I wrote on a Facebook status at the time.

Here goes –

January 2014

*Long Story Status*

“Yesterday was a really rubbish day…… sort of. No one died but you know what I mean, just one of those days.
With stresses of mortgages and other modern day 1st world problems I was getting generally stressed out with just about everything. The previous day I had met with 2 lots of wedding couples in our studio and luckily managed to get a booking from the later meeting in the day to which we was pretty chuffed about and looking forward to shooting their wedding which was to take place next year. As I later found out, both of the couples had been to the wedding fare at Magna to have a look round the other wedding services available. This was then to result in one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced as a wedding photographer……
So following on from my rubbish day on Monday to which I also met with another lovely couple in the evening, I received a text message from the couple who I had met and booked with from the day before. As soon as I read the first line of the message I knew it wasnt going to be good news.
The text started – “Hi Nick, youre not going to believe whats just happened to us”
Thats it from then, I could see the words “we’re going to have to cancel your services” were going to appear later in the message……..
The next part of the message said that after going to the wedding fayre and entering lots of competitions, unbelievably they had won their wedding photography with another company.
I was gutted and my gut thought about them cancelling us had basically been confirmed. Rubbish frown emoticon Just waiting for the rest of the message to hear how sorry they were for having to cancel but who could really turn it down.
BUT WAIT!!!!!!…….
I carried on reading. The rest of the message said –

“DONT PANIC!!!!! we have turned it down lol after meeting you yesterday and seeing your work we felt confident and very excited for you to do them”

BOOOOOOOM!!!! MIND BLOWN!!!!!!

For Emma and Tom to do this me and Nic we are truly amazed and hugely grateful beyond what they would ever believe.

So this message is just to say a huge thanks to them and to say we cant wait to be shooting your wedding next year. We will create some stunning shots for you that you will have to remember for the rest of your lives.

Thank you Emma and Tom xx”

So there you have it and obviously we needed to make this special.

I’m not going to go in detail through what happened in the day as this it what the images are for but we can say that it was one amazing day and again big big thanks to Emma, Tom and all their family and friends.

Ruth & Liam's Wedding. Wentworth Church/3 Acres, Shelley.

Ruth & Liam's wedding was perfect from start to finish. The beautiful Wentworth Church saw the chilled out couple say their vows in front of their family and friends. Taking time to get some more personal shots of them both in the surrounding church area, the photos were a delight.

After Wentworth church it was off to the 3 Acres, Shelley near Huddersfield for their wedding breakfast and dancing. Sat beside the mast of Emley Moor we ventured out for more evening shots.

Big congrats to Ruth & Liam from Nick & Nic.

Kirsty & Nigel's Wedding, Wortley Hall, Sheffield.

Kirsty & Nigel were married at Wortley Hall in Sheffield.

Classic cars, beautiful dresses and long veils we're the order of the day.

Kirsty looked stunning and smiled from start to finish. Nigel, the most laid back groom took it all in his stride. The beautiful gardens of Wortley Hall provided an amazing backdrop for Kirsty & Nigel's wedding, a wedding to be remembered forever.

Kirsty & Marc's Wedding at Stoke Rochford Hall, Lincolnshire. Wedding Photography.

Kirsty & Marc's Wedding at Stoke Rochford Hall, Lincolnshire. Wedding Photography.

As most of our blog posts seem to start this year, once again this wedding started with rain....and plenty of it.

We had the most beautiful backdrop of Stoke Rochford Hall just outside Grantham in Lincolnshire but was unsure on how much we would get to use it.

As usual we started with the bridal preps where we first met Kirsty and her bridesmaids. Undeterred by the weather the plan was always to have an amazing day with their family and friends.

We first saw Marc and his best man with help from umbrellas getting them into the building. As the rain came we had the perfect opportunity to start shooting in the conservatory or "Orangery" {guests will understand haha} which was also to be the location of their wedding ceremony.

A photographers dream shooting in these conditions with diffused natural lighting in a beautiful listed buildings conservatory.

With about 130 guests seated the ceremony was perfect {except the odd wasp} which followed back into the Great Hall for drinks and congratulations.

As the weather was still pretty dismal we decided to shoot the group shots in the conservatory then the normal plan was to get some great intimate shots of Kirsty & Marc but the rain still fell so we decided to leave these until after the wedding breakfast.

The rain had stopped by this point and we managed to take full advantage of the grounds getting some great shots of them both as you can see below.

The night finished with Marc singing and amazing song with their chosen wedding band and plenty of dancing.

We had such a great day, Kirsty, Marc and their family and friends made us  feel so welcome all day.

Big Congratulations to you both from Nick & Nic.

Hannah & Rohan's Robin Hood's Bay Wedding Photography.

Hannah & Rohan’s Wedding Photography at Robin Hoods Bay, North Yorkshire.

Posted on July 16, 2015by Photogenick Photography

Hi All.

A couple of weeks ago we shot Rohan & Hannah’s wedding in Robin Hoods Bay North Yorkshire. What an amazing opportunity to get shooting on the beach to get those personal bride and groom shots.

We started the day before, travelling up from Rotherham to Robin Hoods Bay to stay in the hotel Victoria for the night. If our weddings are generally around 2 hours away we like to get up the night before so we know we are there with no problems. In this case we also extended it for 2 nights……………..why not!!……….. and it was my birthday too.

The morning started off as the day went on….full of fun, laughter and excitement from both the bride and groom. Many a tear was shed during the bridal preps as Hannah looked beyond amazing and so did Rohan.

As the rain came down {quite heavy at times too} it was time to take a short walk around the corner to St Stephen’s Church at Fylingdales for an amazing ceremony backed by a fantastic string duo.

Not only were we there for the wedding of Rohan and Hannah but also during the ceremony we witnessed the baptism of their little boy Edley. What a dude he was all day too.

After the ceremony it was pre-decided that we would all venture down to the beach for group shots and the bride and groom shots, until………….RAIN!!!!!!! and lots of it. Everyone was warned that they should bring wellies and without a second though we were off!!!

The rain did pretty much stop and off we set down the steep streets of Robin Hoods Bay with the bride and groom infront and the whole wedding party behind. With so many congratulations from locals and tourists on our way down, Hannah was beaming from ear to ear.

Any photographer would love to be shooting on the beach from time to time and this was our chance to get some amazing shots………..see below!!!!!!

The rest of the day went as planned and much fun was had by all.

As wedding photographers we are prepared to travel anywhere where the bride and grooms want us. We cover wedding all over  South Yorkshire, Yorkshire and UK Wide.

Visit our website at http://www.photogenick.co.uk to view our work and addition info on how we shoot weddings and have shot weddings for many bride and grooms over the past few years.

Big hugs to Hannah & Rohan on their wedding from Nick & Nic at Photogenick Photography.

Monica & Shaun Wortley Hall Wedding Photography.

Monica & Shaun’s Wedding Photography at Wortley Hall Rotherham/ Sheffield/Barnsley.

Posted on July 16, 2015by Photogenick Photography

Hi again.

Having a bit of spare time so getting the blog posts out there while we can.

Monica and Shaun’s wedding started of in Huddersfield at Shaun’s house where the bride and groom were divided between their house and the next doors. This did need a slight bit of caution to make sure they didn’t see each other but all worked out well.

Monica was cool as a cucumber all morning while she prepared with her friends who were mostly from her homeland of the Philippines. Her bridesmaids had made the journey over as well as her parents for her big day. Also to mention her friend from Germany who kept us amused most of the morning, thanks Jan!

After the bridal preps its was off to Wortley hall in Sheffield to get started with some wedding photography.

We shoot many weddings at Wortlet Hall and every time its a delight with an amazing building and stunning grounds.

The day went as planned and as you will see below we managed to get some great shots for the bride and groom, especially for their personal shots.

As mentioned, we have shot many weddings at Wortley Hall and have a section on our website with its own gallery.

We are Wortley Hall’s recommended photographers so get in touch if you are planning your wedding there.

Thanks for taking the time to view and read.

Whitley Hall Wedding Photographer. Jemma & Toms Wedding.

Whitley Hall Wedding Photographer, Jemma & Tom.

Posted on August 11, 2015by Photogenick Photography

Last Saturday saw us shooting at Whitley Hall in Sheffield.

After a pretty shocking week of weather we had an amazing breakthrough of 27 degree temperatures. We seem to have had quite a bit of luck this year like that.

Our day started off at Whitley Hall in Sheffield where we shot the bridal preps and venue shots. Jemma was calm and ready for the day surrounded by her family and bridesmaids.

We met with Tom before the wedding ceremony to get some shots of him and his best men then moved on to shooting the guest arrivals.

The ceremony was fantastic and full of life giving way for some great shots.

After the ceremony we headed outside in glorious heat to shoot the group shots and the bride and grooms personal shots.

The rest of the day went perfectly and Jemma & Tom were beaming from ear to ear.

Big congratulations to Jemma & Tom.

From the moment we opened the curtains at home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire on Friday morning the rain was falling pretty heavy. But I can assure you this wouldn’t stop us shooting an amazing wedding set in Knaresborough and  Harrogate, We arrived in Scriven early to shoot the bridal preps and were greeted with a lovely warm welcome by Kim the fabulous bride and  her family and friends.

We headed to Trinity church, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire to meet Dan the groom and all the wedding guests,  the rain still in full force! Armed with umbrellas aplenty we still managed to get the fabulous church shots and all the guests rushing to church.

Soon the beautiful bride arrived under the shelter of her umbrella and we were ready for a fantastic service.  Groups shots were taken inside the church as the rain persisted but these turned out amazing as everyone involved pulled together to make the best of a rainy but prefect day!

We then shot up to the Sun Pavillion, Harrogate, North Yorkshire for the wedding reception. Wow what an amazing venue with beautiful decorations! Kim and Dan our fab bride and groom braved the wet to join us to get some fantastic shots. Luckily the venue has an undercover trellis area covered with plants and flowers so we didn’t need our umbrellas.

As the wedding party tucked into a delicious hog roast we edited some pictures for our obligatory  slide show. This of course was a real treat for all the guests.

After the wedding breakfast we shot a late evening confetti shot and moved on for the official cake cutting and first dance.

A truly fantastic day was had by all and it just goes to show that even on the wettest days we can still get those photos to treasure forever.

A massive thank you to Kim, Dan and all there family and friends for making us feel so welcome in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Win & Mark's Wedding, Rutland Hotel Sheffield Wedding Photographers.

Win & Mark’s Wedding, Rutland Hotel Sheffield Wedding Photographers.

Posted on August 17, 2015by Photogenick Photography

We awoke bright and early on Saturday morning to sunny skies and no sign of rain! What a fantastic start for today’s wedding with Mark and Win at The Rutland Hotel, Sheffield, South Yorkshire,

We had both been looking forward to today as the bride and groom are purely fantastic and very welcoming.

We arrived at The Rutland, Sheffield to be greeted by Win our lovely bride with her fantastic smile and jolly, enthusiastic welcome.

We headed up to the bridal suite where we shot all the detail shots in a very calm and relaxed environment. This was a sign of the day to come! Such a chilled out bride and groom!

As the ceremony approached the guests arrived and filled the venue with smiles a plenty. The service was lovely and it was a pleasure to photograph such a fantastic occasion.

We were lucky to shoot all the requested group shots outside at The Rutland in the lovely, well kept garden. We couldn’t resit a walk to the Botanical Gardens, Sheffield to get some extra special shots of the bridal party and Bride and Groom.

We ventured back to The Rutland, Sheffield so the bride and groom could relax with there loved ones while we planned some more special shots for later!

We spent more time in the beautiful grounds of the Rutland Hotel to finish off our already stunning selection of personal shots followed by the cutting of the cake and first dance,

Thank you so much Win and Mark for making us feel so welcome and choosing us to share your special day.
