Josie and Bruce's wedding at Sledmere House, Driffield
Venue: Sledmere House
From the first moment we met a year ago, we knew this was going to be one amazing wedding. Josie and Bruce knew exactly what they wanted from their day at Sledmere House in Driffield and were prepared to put in the hard work to make it fantastic… and they certainly pulled it off.
A transformed barn at Sledmere House
They were to be married at the most amazing of venues, Sledmere House in Driffield, East Yorkshire. The ceremony was to be held in the main house, then it was over the road to the barn for the wedding breakfast and evening reception. We were shown pictures of the barn before Josie and Bruce had put their mark on the place, and to say they had their work cut out would be an understatement, but true to their vision and excitement, they turned it into something unforgettable.
We first met Josie during her bridal preps. We’re always unsure how nervous a bride may be, but we were met by a very calm and excited Josie. She and her bridesmaids were getting their final hair and makeup touches done while we shot away, capturing some natural moments.
We got news that the boys had arrived, so we shot over to get some great groomsmen pics. Again, all the groomsmen were in great spirits, and it was great to meet them all. The wind was blowing a little heavily at this point, but the skies were clearing. Today was going to be a good day!
Confetti on the staircase
Before we knew it, it was almost time for the ceremony. Guests were arriving, and all systems were go. Bruce had the usual slightly apprehensive look on his face as he stood at the front of the ceremony room, but as soon as he saw his wife-to-be, you could see him relax instantly.
The ceremony went without a hitch, apart from the “awful husband” incident, but that only fuelled what was to be a great light-hearted day. Leaving the ceremony room as husband and wife, in true Sledmere House tradition, they walked hand in hand down the beautiful staircase as the confetti fell over them.
After the group shots, and making sure we got them some amazing bride and groom photography, everyone headed over to the barn for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
The evening went perfectly, with the cutting of the cake and a first dance, followed by the most amazing dance show.
So, as we fully expected, Josie & Bruce pulled it off. One amazing day was had by everyone, and we would like to thank Josie and Bruce for making us feel so welcome. Big congratulations to you both, and we can’t wait to see you to get your album designed.
