Whitley Hall wedding photography

Nestled in Sheffield’s countryside at Grenoside, Whitley Hall is one of South Yorkshire’s most enchanting wedding venues — 16th-century charm, beautiful gardens and a romantic lakeside setting. We have photographed it year after year, and since 2022 we have been the hotel’s recommended wedding photographers.

The perfect match

Why Whitley Hall and Photogenick work so well together

Capturing the magic of Whitley Hall takes more than a camera — it takes experience, timing and deep familiarity with the venue. Having photographed countless weddings here, we know it like the back of our hands.

From the softest light in the gardens at golden hour to the best indoor spots for classic portraits whatever the weather, that knowledge means your day runs smoothly: we know the best timings, the best locations and how to make the most of every unique feature the venue offers — without ever taking you away from your guests for long.

Working closely with the Whitley Hall team means we also know how the day flows behind the scenes, so we are always in the right place before the moment happens.

The venue

A 16th-century ivy-clad mansion

Grand architecture and historic interiors, landscaped gardens, outdoor ceremony spaces, elegant reception rooms, luxury accommodation and incredible food. Ceremonies happen in the Parker Suite, the Whitley Suite or out in the gardens, and from the moment guests arrive along the sweeping driveway there is a real sense of occasion.

A Whitley Hall review

They apply zero pressure on you to stand there smiling for hours or pose for pictures you’re not that bothered about.

If you’re looking for incredibly talented photographers that capture the most stunning images/memories, make you feel completely at ease & are absolutely beautiful people inside and out then look no further. We cannot recommend Nic & Nick enough! The good old British weather stayed true to form & absolutely threw it down on our wedding day but spirits were not dampened and neither were the pictures (can’t say the same for Nic & Nick getting all the best angles in the rain though!). They are full of creative ideas to get gorgeous pictures no matter what other ideas the weather has. They apply zero pressure on you to stand there smiling for hours or pose for pictures you’re not that bothered about. In truth we were a bit careless when it came to booking a photographer; We saw Nic & Nick at an open day at Whitley Hall, picked up a leaflet & overheard them speaking to other people (never actually spoke a word to them ourselves). The few photos on the leaflet looked stunning & they sounded like lovely people so we contacted them online & booked. Thinking back this could have been a risky thing to do for such an enormous part of our wedding. Fortunately for us it was actually the best decision we could have made. From the moment they arrived on the day, Nic & Nick made everyone feel comfortable. They were so helpful and went above and beyond their role of photographers on our wedding day. They felt like guests; Like friends or family. I’m genuinely sad that we won’t see them again or get to relive that day. Thanks for the memories Nic & Nick. Love from Jodie & Craig xx

Whitley Hall FAQs

Planning photography at Whitley Hall

The questions Whitley Hall couples ask us most. Anything else, just ask.

Whitley Hall Hotel, Elliott Lane, Grenoside, Sheffield, South Yorkshire S35 8NR. See us on Whitley Hall’s recommended suppliers page.

Are you really Whitley Hall’s recommended photographers?

Yes. After shooting at Whitley Hall for as many years as we can remember, we were chosen in 2020 as the hotel’s recommended wedding photographers and we are listed on the Whitley Hall weddings suppliers page. We work closely with the team there week in, week out.

Where are the best photo spots at Whitley Hall?

The ivy-covered front of the hall, the sweeping driveway, the gardens and lakeside at golden hour, the stone steps and pathways, and — whatever the weather — the staircase and candlelit interiors. We know the light at each of them by the hour.

What if it rains?

Whitley Hall has some of the best indoor spots of any Sheffield venue. We have shot in fog, snow and downpours there and the gallery never suffers — Jodie & Craig’s review below was written after a day of solid rain.

How does the timeline usually work at Whitley Hall?

We arrive around three hours before the ceremony for preps (often on site in the bridal suite), photograph the groom and guests arriving, cover the ceremony in the Parker or Whitley Suite or the gardens, do group shots and a short couple session in the grounds, then speeches, golden hour and the dance floor. We will build the exact plan with you and the Whitley Hall coordinators.

Can you fly a drone at Whitley Hall?

Drone photography is included in every collection and the grounds at Whitley Hall are ideal for it, subject to weather and the venue’s guidance on the day.
