Over the years countless couples have told us horror stories of a photographer who took the bride and groom away for their “special” shots for two hours. Two hours away from the family and friends you may not have seen for years. We decided a long time ago that was not the right way.
The couple shots you see in our galleries take very little time. That comes from pre-planning the venue and, wherever possible, a pre-wedding shoot — where we learn who you are, what you like and what you really don’t. Everything feeds into a day that runs smoothly and without stress.
99% of our couples are not into posing — neither would we be if someone told us to. The most natural shots are the best, so we capture the moments when you and your guests least expect it. Or you can just have a laugh, like these guys.
With over 800 weddings behind us there is not much we have not seen. Here is how we work through the key parts of the day — though every wedding is unique and we shape it around yours.
We arrive around three hours before your ceremony to take your mind off the nerves and remind you what an awesome day it is going to be. A few detail shots of the dress and shoes, and before you know it we have already captured the morning without you noticing. Calm, observant and never in the way.
A ceremony only happens once, so we work quietly and anticipate the moments before they happen — the squeeze of a hand, the glance nobody else sees, the first look back down the aisle. Documentary storytelling with beautifully framed, editorial-quality images.
Family formals are handled with warmth and precision so nobody stands in a line for an hour. Couple portraits take minutes, not hours, because we have planned the venue in advance. In between, we are quietly documenting the real interactions on the lawn.
Roaring laughter, proud glances and tearful smiles — the speeches are rich with unscripted emotion and we position ourselves to catch every reaction.
If a sunset graces the evening we will whisk you away for five golden minutes. Then it is the dance floor — the most natural, candid photographs of the whole day happen once the nerves are gone and a few drinks have been had.
