Kirsty and Marc's wedding at Stoke Rochford Hall, Grantham
Venue: Stoke Rochford Hall
Kirsty & Marc’s wedding at Stoke Rochford Hall, Lincolnshire.
As most of our blog posts seem to start this year, once again this wedding started with rain… and plenty of it.
We had the most beautiful backdrop of Stoke Rochford Hall, just outside Grantham in Lincolnshire, but we were unsure how much we would get to use it.
A ceremony in the Orangery
As usual we started with the bridal preps, where we first met Kirsty and her bridesmaids. Undeterred by the weather, the plan was always to have an amazing day with their family and friends.
We first saw Marc and his best man being helped into the building by umbrellas. As the rain came, we had the perfect opportunity to start shooting in the conservatory, or “Orangery” (guests will understand, haha), which was also to be the location of their wedding ceremony.
Shooting in these conditions is a photographer’s dream: diffused natural light in the conservatory of a beautiful listed building.
With about 130 guests seated, the ceremony was perfect (except for the odd wasp), and it was followed by drinks and congratulations back in the Great Hall.
Portraits in the grounds of Stoke Rochford Hall
As the weather was still pretty dismal, we decided to shoot the group shots in the conservatory. The normal plan would then be to get some great intimate shots of Kirsty & Marc, but the rain was still falling, so we decided to leave those until after the wedding breakfast.
The rain had stopped by then, and we managed to take full advantage of the grounds, getting some great shots of them both, as you can see below.
The night finished with Marc singing an amazing song with their chosen wedding band, and plenty of dancing.
We had such a great day. Kirsty, Marc and their family and friends made us feel so welcome all day.
Big congratulations to you both from Nick & Nic.
